Spay Neuter Your Pet

Goldie

Goldie came to my patio late in 2008 seeking shelter and food. She came every day until the May 2009, then she stopped coming. I hoped someone had given her a home, but one day in July she came to my door crying for food and attention. She was skinny, and her fur was terribly matted.

I had no experience with an orange tabby, so I thought the freckles around her eyes and on her gums and in her ears meant she was sick. I took her to the vet and found out she was healthy - she just needs a good inside home and some help keeping her fur groomed. The freckles are normal for an orange tabby, and it is rare to find a female orange tabby. So besides being sweet and very loving - she's special, too!

She was adopted by a woman with 4 children last October, but two weeks ago her husband brought Goldie back to the vet clinic where she received her vaccinations. He declined to give any reason for returning her or any details regarding the food she had been eating, etc., and repeated phone calls to the woman who adopted her were not returned, so we don’t know why she was returned.

Goldie has been spayed, and the vet thinks she’s about 5 years old. She tested negative for feline leukemia and AIDS, and she has had all her vaccinations.

Goldie has long fur (mostly on her tail), and she loves being brushed. She's very gentle with children, but hisses when other cats come around. She never fought with the other cats living on my patio, so maybe she’s frightened and trying to make herself seem larger by hissing at the other cats. We don’t know how she would react to living with a dog, so maybe she needs to be the only pet in a home where her people have time to give her lots of attention and allow her to be the lap kitty she wants to be.

Everyone who has been involved with her care, including me, loves her and would gladly take her home if they didn’t already have several pets.
